DESCRIPTION
After vowing he would fight on no matter what, it looks like Keir Starmer now realises the game is up. Michael Heaver argues this Labour government and Prime Minister are leaving behind a horrendous legacy: UK youth unemployment at an 11-year high of 16.2 percent, job vacancies at a record low, and businesses hammered with higher and higher taxes all while the government has, in Heaver's words, encouraged firms to hire foreign workers instead.Illegal migrant boat crossings have continued largely unchecked, with an additional 710 people arriving on June 15 alone despite Starmer's "smash the gangs" pledge. Welfare spending and government borrowing have both exploded under his premiership, which Michael Heaver argues has failed on almost every metric. It is being reported that Keir Starmer is set to resign as soon as Monday, with Andy Burnham widely expected to become Labour leader and Prime Minister without a contest. Michael Heaver says this raises the possibility of an early general election if Burnham and the government can secure a honeymoon poll bounce. What do you think? Let us know in the comments below.
